As per IMDA Guidelines
The General Audiences (G) rating is the lowest rating in the PRS. It encompasses audiences from all ages from young children and above.
Because of the inclusion of young children, content under the G rating must be strictly SFW.
G-rated programmes may include any of the following, which is not exhaustive:
No violence
Friendly horror
Non-threatening horror, like horror with humorous elements.
No swearing
Light family alternatives allowed (e.g. “holy macaroni”)
Non-sexual love
Brief displays of affection (e.g. kissing)
No sexual content
No depictions of sex or explicit nudity
No suggestive language
No substance consumption
No drugs
No alcohol
No smoking, including tobacco and vaping
The Parental Guidance (PG) rating is the second rating in the PRS, also encompassing audiences from young children and above.
However, this rating indicates content that may not be suitable for pre-teenage children and encourages parental accompaniment.
PG-rated programmes may include any of the following, which is not exhaustive:
Mature themes
Marital subjects, such as divorce
Political themes
Use of alcohol and/or tobacco
Mild to moderate violence
Violence involving fantasy situations and characters. (e.g. a character is unharmed after getting hit. They sustain bloodless wounds)
Depictions that may contain heavy fighting and/or light blood and gore
Mild to moderate horror
Non-detailed depictions of disturbing scenes
Mild to moderate language
Use of mild coarse language such as "shit", "bitch" and "asshole".
Infrequent use of coarse language, such as the expletive “fuck”.
Mildly sexual love
Displays of affection, like caressing and kissing
Mild and non-detailed sexually suggestive themes and dialogue
Brief suggestive hand gestures and dialogue
Crude humour (e.g. “bathroom” jokes)
Brief or partial nudity (e.g. person(s) in their undergarments)
The Mature Content (MT) rating is the highest rating in the PRS, encompassing audiences from those aged 18 and above. This rating indicates content that contains strong NSFW content and is not suitable for young audiences.
MT will apply to all NSFW content, whether fictional, realistic, or real.
MT-rated programmes may include any of the following, which is not exhaustive:
Strong violence
Graphic blood and gore
Graphic human injury and death
Strong language
Frequent use of the expletive “fuck”.
Infrequent and frequent use of strong coarse language, such as “motherfucker”, “cunt”, “chee bye”, “lan jiao”, “puki mak” and “pundai”.
Infrequent and frequent use of strong coarse language such as "kan ni lao bu chee bye".
Gestures (including sign language) and depictions that relate to these vulgarities and their meanings.
Strong horror
Detailed depictions of disturbing scenes
Brief depictions of repulsive horror, like cannibalism
Detailed explicit material
Very sexually suggestive material (e.g. outright depictions of genitalia or sex, including but not limited to a picture or drawings)
Explicit humour
Complete nudity
Sexual and/or seductive situations
Other strongly mature themes
Consumption or abuse of drugs
Borderline NSFW/SFW content (e.g. double meanings and symbolisms)
